Reunion with Mom and Dad

We have been absent from our family blog for one month exactly as our son Thomas was diagnosed with cancer. We were publishing over at CaringBridge (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/thomaslauer/), but are now going to try to bring the two together seamlessly in order to continue the family blog I have written for 14 years. This blog post is copied from CaringBridge and is being published retroactively. Please subscribe to our family blog to receive updates as I publish!

Sorry no pictures to include with this update.  Around 7:30pm we were reunited with Thomas in the recovery room, and after about 30 minutes of watching him sleep, they transferred him to a observation room where he will spend the night ... and Katherine will sleep there with him.  Around 8:30pm, I left the hospital and returned home.  At 9:30pm, Katherine called me at home with news that Thomas was waking up.  We did a short video call so he could see his daddy's face and hear my voice.  Katherine is now able to feed him some ice chips.  Sorry for the "just the facts" update ... as compared to the better written updates that Katherine writes.  Thank you to everyone for the prayers.
