Feast of St. Nicholas 2017

Family gifts were a Seek-and-Find "A Christmas Carol" and two CDs of "Gregorian Chant for Kids."

Each child was given a personalized Christmas ornament. You can see Thomas' is a little boy wearing a fireman's hat, which was fitting since Thomas was wearing his fire truck pajamas this morning!

I had baked gingerbread cookies with Margaret over the weekend, and froze them because I have learned over the years that I'm always too busy to bake too close to the feast day itself.

Morning prayer time and Advent reading
After school, we headed to an afternoon St. Nicholas party at our parish.

In a Big First, my 11-year-old did not come with us this year. He was given an opportunity to go shooting with Daddy and two other men and, despite the time conflict, John chose to do the Big Grown-Up Men's Activity instead of going to the kids' party: a right of passage that made this mama's heart feel poignant! They do grow up fast . . .

  1. You are smart to remember to bake early. Such a seemingly small thing can make such a meaningful difference in a mama’s day! How beautifully you all celebrated this feast!
