Tuesday 7/1 in California

Today John woke up, as expected, around 3:45 a.m.! It's going to be a long transition getting him on West Coast time, something we will probably achieve right before it is time to go home. Because we were up so early, we went on a walk with Grampa Neil (my stepdad) bright and early at 7:00 a.m. (after half the day had seemed to pass!). We stopped by a toddler park where John loved swinging, probably for the first time. He was thrilled also to two see two kitties and a skunk.

After his afternoon nap, John and I met Grandpa (my dad) at another nearby park. Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking clearly, so it was 3:00 p.m.--the hottest part of the day, nearly 100 degrees--and I didn't bring John's hat or sunscreen! I let him play on the playground for maybe 15 minutes before I deemed it way too hot. I put John into the stroller, gave him his water cup, and we took a walk on the nearby deeply shaded biking trail. Still, the weather was way too hot and Mama was way too stupid.
