Topsail Island Travelogue Day 2

Easter octave at the beach

It was pretty remarkable that I could pack up the house in as organized a manner as I did in only a few short hours, but I still forgot about 15 critical items. Thus, Wednesday morning saw us driving to the nearest Wal-Mart Supercenter about an hour away to stock up--and the natives were restless.

Then we came back for a perhaps ill-timed first visit to the beach, which is only about 100 feet away from our door. The weather channel said that the air temperature on the beach was a perceived 50 degrees, the ocean water temperature was only about ten degrees higher, and the wind was constant. Mothers would rather children stay warm and dry, but that certainly did not happen, so soon I had a handful of children shivering and turning blue while begging me to carry them home because they were "too cold to walk."

It certainly was very pretty and this Mama looked forward to when everything would be a tad warmer (which it was for the rest of the week).

Another family had a cool squid kite.

On our second night, I made a simple dinner of hot dogs and mac and cheese before we watched a fun family movie. Then John and I attended a Zoom meeting about college planning . . . quite a feeling to even be having to think about that already since John was born "just yesterday"!
