Sometimes Mary likes to plink at the piano until she figures out how to play a melody: more fun than simply asking me for the sheet music, right? A couple of days of focused work and she figured out the beginning of "Amazing Grace" right before I flew out of state.
Once she figured out how to play it, she transcribed all the notes so she wouldn't forget.
It's an edifying hobby for a Kindergartener to have, that's what we think!
