Calendar Riddle

As we were eating lunch, John looked thoughtfully at the calendar on the wall and remarked . . .

"It's a pity that this year my birthday doesn't fall on Friday."

I asked, "Why?"

John replied, "Because then I could say, 'Today I am Friday, but tomorrow I'll be Saturday.'"

Ten points if you can figure out what my big boy means by this riddle!

    The answer to the riddle: The dates of Friday and Saturday were December 6th and 7th . . . and John turns seven (today). So, he wished his birthday fell on Saturday, turning seven on the seventh.
