Say What?

We were standing in line to order food at the restaurant counter when Mary (2-1/2) said seriously, "I drank some coffee. Maybe that is why I didn't sleep so well last night."

Even though she said it plain as day, I asked, "What did you say?!"

She repeated it, leaving me wondering who said that in her hearing, giving her something to copy. Or, knowing my Mary, she really did drink some coffee last night before bed and then stayed up, tossing and turning, planning how to take over the world.
