Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

September 8 is the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and that is the Marian feast day we chose among the many to be our Mary's patron saint day.

She woke up to little gifts.

This is #10 in the Treasure Box series of books. (Don't tell the kids, but we already have the whole series and I'm dolling them out one by one as gifts.)

She also received a little bracelet with a Holy Ghost dove and multicolored flowers. I know the likelihood of a toddler breaking a bracelet, which is why this was extremely inexpensive!

We also baked a new recipe for vanilla wafers.

John wanted to decorate half of them with rainbow sprinkles.

I forgot to take photos of the finished product. They were pretty, but very crispy. They were intended to be crispy, but I like a chewy cookie. If I make them again, I'll try letting them rest in the oven for a much shorter time. Anyway, they are good crumbled up on top of ice cream. And the kids love them regardless. After dinner, Daddy served the cookies with ice cream and sang "Happy Birthday" to the Virgin Mother.

  2. Happy Feast Day (yesterday) Mary!!! It looked as if she really liked her bracelet. I love how Mary can be so *tough* and yet so girly at the same time. My Monica is the same way!!! Love it!!!
