Our Storyteller

John tells us the most fantastic stories, and all day long at that. He's especially loquacious at night when Daddy is going through the bedtime routine with him. Tonight Chris was able to jot down a story immediately after John told it. What is most funny to me about reading it is that all the elements of the story were moments that occurred today.

"A long time ago when I was just a boy there were dinosaurs in this village who died, but were saved and they were raised from the dead. Then a long time ago before you and Mommy were born, I went to an island where there was a beach that had sand and dirt and two pots full of diggers. And there was a house there that was burned. On the sand there was a snail which was a caterpillar actually and I picked it up (but it was not the biting kind). Then a man came over and said 'hello.'"

Another cute moment from bedtime: Chris was done reading when John asked Chris to lay with him for a few minutes, adding, "We can read stories and sing songs." Chris said that no, they were done reading for the night. John replied, "No, I do not mean stories in books, but stories from our souls."

I'm just grateful I get to hear the stories from John's soul all day long, as they put a smile on my face.
