How To Cut Down on Reading
If you are feeling internal pressure and desire to catch up on the stack of Catholic newspapers to which you subscribe and so enjoy, then what you can do to cut down on the necessary reading is to leave a half-read newspaper out in the den so that the toddler will find it and shred it into little bits, spreading them around the room, and then you won't have so much reading to do and can focus more on the housework.

oh my... Mary "helped" you out there, huh?
ReplyDeleteI indulged my childrens' shredding impulses at one point (back when I had "only" 2 kids) with a bunch of discard magazines from the library. They loved it.
Then one of them tore out and consumed a page of an (expensive!) library book. We own that book now. LOL... I haven't indulged any kids since then!
Christine: Yes, I indulged John the same way as a baby. Then I quickly saw that I was thwarting myself in teaching how to be gentle with books and never to tear the pages. So, no more paper-tearing encouraged!
