My Lenten activity with the kids (John, really) is making a Lenten cross. I outlined a big cross on paper and taped it on the wall. I photocopied black line drawings from my Domestic Church book, cut them out, and colored them with crayons. Each day we'll do a particular Bible reading, then John gets to paste the picture inside the cross. The activity is described here. The picture of our final product should be a lot more interesting.
What a wonderful activity! I bookmarked the page describing it. Thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteThat's very similar to the Jesus Tree we're doing (which is very like a Jesse Tree, just focusing on the life of Christ rather than Old Testament). http://www.leafletonline.com/catalog/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={e8f73144-999a-4b28-a85f-c7005908eb9e}&pname=Jesus+Tree+Kit&Referer=QUICK_SEARCH&Alias=11938&ptct=BS-SR&CTitle=&
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun activity! Katherine, tell me again where you got the kitchen for the kids, I am looking for one like this for Will. He loves to play "cooking"! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteRachel: We got this play kitchen at HearthSong and the accouterments at IKEA. HearthSong also sells some wooden food, but I didn't happen to buy it when we bought the play kitchen.
