Big Girl
When Mary and I went to the doctor's office yesterday to get antibiotic eye drops, I had her measured. At 14 months she weighs 25 pounds and is 31 inches tall, which is almost the 90th percentile in weight and 75th percentile in height. My big, healthy girl! John was never small, but Mary is decidedly bigger at the same ages. At this age, John was about 22 pounds and 30 inches, which is even smaller percentage-wise for a boy.

You must be RIDICULOUSLY strong from carrying her around all this time! I'd love to see your biceps curl!!
ReplyDeleteWow...big girl indeed! I don't think Emma reached that weight until she was almost 2! :)
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteSarah: Ha ha! I was at an LLL meeting the other day and I put Mary on my front in the Ergo. Another woman commented that she never wears her same-aged son on the front anymore because he weighs 27 pounds. I didn't want to say anything, but I wear Mary on the front in the Ergo or Maya all the time still. Probably at least half the time. Too bad all this weight-lifting doesn't make me thin! Quite the opposite, it makes me pig out and get chubby.
ReplyDeleteShe's got Theo beat--he's only 23 pounds, and he's almost 22 months old. Funny thing is, he started out pretty large--8+ lbs. Now he's a skinny guy...but he eats like you wouldn't believe. I think he has Chris's metabolism. :-)
ReplyDeleteKatherine, you SO do not look chubby! I was looking at the picture of you and Erica in a recent post (you're wearing Mary in the Ergo), and I was thinking how thin you look! I've gained 10 lbs in the past year, so I was rather envious. ;-)
Cathleen: Maybe wearing such a big baby on my person makes me look thinner than I am, like a good accessory! I had lost weight down to my pre-Mary weight and was closing in on my marriage weight. But then I gained seven pounds and now I weigh more than when I conceived Mary. ~sigh~
ReplyDeleteYes, John at two years older weighs only six pounds more than Mary. I know growth slows down substantially, though, in this second year, so we'll see how much the gap closes or doesn't close. As Chris points out to me concerning sibling squabbles, "Mary sure can hold her own."
ReplyDeleteMaybe the weight gain is all that great bread you bake, now. I got a bread machine several years ago and got rid of it a year and 8 pounds later! :-) Seriously, though, you look great. I'm currently trying to lose weight for my sister's wedding in June.
