Plastic

I thought that buying a plastic bottle of corn syrup would make it less likely to break. But, indeed, a 12-month-old can get into the pantry and knock such a bottle onto the ground, and that bottle can smash open, and the clear, viscous corn syrup can spread in a pool on the ground where the baby quietly explores it before Mama discovers what is going on.

Indeed.
