Wednesday

Today John helped me hang two pictures in the dining room. He brought his plastic tools with him and I gave him a plastic doohickey to pretend it was a nail. Disaster was narrowly averted when I turned my back for a moment and John took the real hammer off the table and began banging the wall with it. Thankfully he did not bang hard enough to do any damage before I whisked it away.

A mystery was solved today when John opened a decorative trunk we have in the dining room. In it was stashed some articles of clothing that have been missing for about two months! John pulled out Mary's two bright pink onesies (I had hunted high and low for those!), some unmentionables, and some lonely, single socks.
In Mary's day, she had a high point when she tried and enjoyed hard boiled egg yolk and she had a low point when she accidentally tumbled half way through the cat door (that leads into the utility closet where the litter box is housed). She has now mastered climbing the two steps from the sunken den into the kitchen; unfortunately, she doesn't understand downward steps yet, so if I don't move fast enough, she'll crawl right down them and land on her head. Lastly, Mary has cut her fourth tooth.
