Mine

John to Mary: "Those are my screws! Those are my screws!"

Mary had crawled over to the train table and was examining the screws in the legs. John doesn't want to share so much as his gazing at the hardware holding together the furniture.

In fact, he thinks "sharing" means that he gets to take what Mary has. In a tussle over a wooden turtle that she was playing with, he kept saying, "But I want to share it!" (and then would yank it away again).

Poor little fellow. And poor Mama having to negotiate the big lessons about sharing and "mine."

  1. Sharing is hard! I'm STILL learning how to share my chocolate ice cream with others. ;)
