Christmas Morning

This year we're going to try spreading out the Christmas gift-opening over the Twelve Days of Christmas. John is overwhelmed by opening more than a couple of presents at once, so we would end up spreading them out anyway, so we figured we might as well do it with a religious reason attached. On Christmas morning, John came downstairs to find his new train table (gift from his parents and all the grandparents). The table has renewed his interest in playing with his train and Duplo blocks. He really likes it!
Before going to Mass, we also opened our stockings. Sweet John would pull out one toothbrush and want to stop, one comb and want to stop, one cookie and want to stop. We kept having to prod him to dig into the stocking again.

Note to anybody who sent us gifts: Thank you notes from me will be delayed this year because we're opening our presents over twelve days. Thanks for understanding!

  2. Nice train table! We had one for awhile too. A cool idea is to cover the entire top with Duplo building plates to really build-- then Lego plates later! They will easily attach to playwood that can be lifted in or out, despending on that day's play!

We're celebrating the 12 days this year too, and spread out our gifts some too (St. Nicholas Day, 12 Days, Epiphany, etc.). I think it's great these kids don't have the "gimme, gimme" mindset and are really interested in opening and playing with (or in our house, reading each book repeatedly) each gift!
