Christmas in Atlanta

We were fairly certain we would not want to travel to Atlanta for Christmas because it was only six weeks postpartum, but on Christmas day we spontaneously decided we were up for it. The next day we made the drive, which took about five hours with stops and was not even horrific! (The drive home was decidedly worse.) Chris' brother's family joined us at Chris' parents home for a wonderful meal. Here are the cousins playing with blocks:

I think Mary resembles her Mama in this photo:
Look how chubby Mary is growing!

John posing next to sleeping Mary (no, they're not allowed to sleep next to each other like that because it wouldn't be safe with a toddler and such a young newborn):

Lastly, a humorous story about which Chris said, "I just know this is going to end up on the blog." On our drive to Atlanta, we were at a stop and both kids needed diaper changes so Chris volunteered to do the job. He finished with John and was working on Mary. He took off her outfit, took off her wet diaper, wiped her, put a diaper on, put back on her layers of clothes, and was all done. Voila! As he was putting away the supplies, we simultaneously looked at the clean, dry diaper sitting on the dash board and said, "What? What is that diaper?" Chris had only pulled out one clean diaper and there it was, so what was on Mary's bottom? He checked and, indeed, he had simply put her old, wet diaper right back on! We got a good laugh out of it and Chris would remind me with later diaper changes, "Now, remember to put on a new diaper. That's the way it is done!"
