Another Deer Spotting

Sunday morning I looked out the kitchen window while preparing the coffee pot and spotted a fawn eating my tomato plants! I grabbed the camera and ran out onto the back deck, from which I photographed the fawn and its mother. (The photos are dark. Maybe Chris can lighten them and I'll re-post them.)

The doe tried to stare me down, but after I stared back at her for at least two minutes, she advanced toward me several steps and stamped her front legs threateningly at me. I just stood still, so she ran off into the forest, expecting her baby to follow. Her little baby got confused and ran a few leaps closer to me! Poor little thing was now all alone and confused, but after a couple of more minutes, the fawn scampered into the forest where I presume Mama was waiting for it.
John's new favorite toy is my almost 10-year-old Nalgene bottle. Here we see John clutching it while asleep on the ride to lunch after Mass . . .
. . . and clutching it on the ride home from lunch. (Yes, he's wearing a new outfit.)
We had a family get-together at lunch to celebrate Uncle Tim and his daughter Ava's same-day birthdays. John with pretty Aunt Holly:
