May Crowning 2019

I organized our parish May Crowning again this year, but what was different was moving it from a weekday after all these years to a Sunday immediately after Mass. Probably 120 people participated instead of the usual 30 or 40! Praise God!

Unfortunately, we had a nasty cold sweeping through the house and normally I just power through respiratory bugs, but this one kept me home. I found three people at church who were willing to take over running the event for me (thank you greatly, M-- and J--- and C---!), and Chris did come back a bit early from the father-son retreat to take over. It takes a village!

Afterward, there was an ice cream social!

Back at home with the sick ones, I let the toddler have a popsicle and he offered it to our Virgin Mary statue . . . our own little crowning!

  1. That Hispanic girl's white dress is stunning! Your parish sounds so awesome....we didn't even have a May crowning this year (we did at home but not in our parish).

  2. Yes, that is sweet K--- and her dress is so lovely! I recall a priest telling me about his time at seminary and how, at that time, May Crownings were frowned upon, so he and his buddies would do a May Crowning in the middle of the night so they wouldn't get caught by seminary faculty!
