Field Trip: Historic Brattonsville

On Thursday, we went on a field trip to Historic Brattonsville, which includes three homes among 30 historic structures built on 778 acres by the prominent Bratton family between 1776 and 1855.

This fun game involved one gaggle of kids throwing the ball over the roof to the other team, back and forth, and then something (but I'm not sure what) sparked when the teams would suddenly switch places, running wildly and laughing.

Visiting the carpenter . . .

Whispering: "May I sit on that stool, Mama?"

Visiting the livestock and the farmer . . .

All was well visiting the historic breed of sheep until one of them started moving slowly toward the fence and Thomas (3-3/4) leapt into his big brother's arms: "Keep them from eating me!"

All the children are now sure they want to keep Polish chickens someday because of meeting this adorable month-and-a-half-old chick.

Touring the big house . . .

Good smells in the kitchen . . .

The blacksmiths had a lot to say . . .

I love this time of year, zany though it is, as many activities and long scholastic endeavors are wrapping up, so we have more time, the weather is improving, and we go on various field trips. We have another fun outing planned for next week!

  1. Something about your son's expression in the photo on the stool is reminiscent of your husband's photos :)
