1. Descending upon Atlanta

2. Advent 2017
I'm trying to be ready . . .Preparing for Advent 2017
(And it turns out I really had not ordered the Advent candles ahead of time. Sigh.)
3. Teaching Reading
I wrote a piece about how I'm now teaching reading differently than when I had one or two tots, but still using my favorite program.4. Mary and Thomas
Mary (9) is such a mother-hen to Thomas (2-1/2) that she often invites him to sit with her while she practices violin or piano, and he actually does sit there and listen for most of those 45 minutes! At few other times does he stop imitating a whirling dervish. One day this week, I found that she'd invited him to sit on her lap while she did math, and even let him push the right keys to answer the questions.
It's a special relationship . . . and a big help to me.
5. Gorgeous Autumn Days
The children playing a spontaneous game of baseball in this lovely weather . . .6. Growing Up
I was struck by my firstborn really growing up! Hard to believe he was that wee baby who made me a mother eleven years ago.And this is my youngest wee one at three and a half months old . . .
7. Putting on a Cheerful Face
Putting on a cheerful face is not my strong suit. I was trying hard to set a good example of cleaning up cheerfully when my four-year-old asked to take a picture of me . . .. . . as we were cleaning up this monster mess. The photos document the state of affairs after (did I clarify AFTER?) my working at it steadily for 30 minutes. Another 30 minutes followed.
Every week, I agonize over this mess. I'm trying hard to repeat to myself that we are blessed with space, we are blessed with toys, we are blessed with children who use the space and toys, and we are blessed with locking cabinets (so the mess could be worse if the kids got into those toys) . . . we are blessed!
