When we had our first baby lo those seven years ago, his first trip down a playground slide likely involved one parent at the top anxiously holding the baby, another parent at the bottom with an encouraging smile and assurances that he would be okay. If there weren't pillows placed at the bottom of the slide, it was due to our lack of preparedness.
Dear Baby #4 was spotted by two parents taking a rare moment to sit on the deck in the morning hours and actually have a conversation (remember what those are?) . . . Baby #4 at 15 months was being hauled up the rope ladder by the 7-year-old who, in coordination with the 5-year-old, just pushed him straight down the slide without even riding down with him. Weeeee, plunk on his back in the wood chips!
Mama's heartbeat barely registered an elevated tick. Yup, he'd be okay and, in fact, was eagerly signing to go up the slide again.
I caught it on film the third time the kiddos did it.
My how times change . . .
