In language development, John is now repeating the last word of most of my sentences. It makes for pretty funny conversation around here.

Two of Every Kind
Recently John re-discovered his Noah's Ark shapesorter full of pairs of wooden animals. He used to love it, but after we moved it was unpacked onto a hidden shelf and he didn't notice it for a couple of months. When he found it a few days ago, I noticed he began pulling out the animals and pairing them instantly. Since then I've been finding paired animals all over the house . . . two alligators on the table, two elephants on the stairs, two giraffes on the couch. Just two months ago when we lived in the apartment, John couldn't pair the animals. It's amazing to me how rapidly toddlers develop and change. I was talking to a female friend on the phone the other day and she mentioned how John will be "two" when the new baby is born and I said, "Yes, he'll be 24 months old." She joked how non-parents use years and parents use weeks and months. I explained that it's because so much changes so fast, there is a really big difference!
