Tidbits

John is saying a new word: "pine-pine" for porcupine. We find it extremely endearing.

John has been relatively cooperative about having his nails clipped until recently. I found a tactic that seems to be helping: I ask him which nail I should clip next and make the decision an exciting game. It's working for now.

Yesterday I ordered this interesting timer that visually shows time disappearing. I have ideas to use this in various ways with John (e.g., "you can play until the timer stops"). Stay tuned for a report.

Click here and here for some amazing photos of what our gestating baby should look like now at 17 weeks. Almost halfway done!

  1. I always trim Ben's nails while he is sleeping :) He is too wiggly when he is awake. And I feel like his nails need trimming every other day! I wish my nails grew as fast as his!!

I can't believe you are 17 weeks already!! Post pics!!

  3. Love the pine-pine! What a cutie!

I use the timer method at times too. I'm not very consistent, as I don't always remember. Oops! DS is getting better about waiting a minute or two, though. I'm also in the habit of practically chanting what we're doing now, next later. It seems to be helping... "Now we're going to make dinner, then we'll read a book, and then it's potty and outside time!" Keep us posted; I like the timer you chose.
