Angel Hair Aficionado

On our drive home from Atlanta, we stopped for dinner at Macaroni Grill. John loved the angel hair pasta. We leave big tips at restaurants these days to make up for the giant mess John leaves behind.

Sadly, I could not enjoy our meal. My nausea and sickness has been coming back intermittently and in the last 24 hours has spiralled out of control again. At the restaurant I ordered a $2 side of plain pasta with butter. I ate one bow tie and said, "Nope!"

  1. Sorry about the nausea! Have you tried brushing your teeth, eating peppermint, or pretzels, or crackers? Those are the things that have helped me during Carli's and this pregnancy. Is your nausea worse this pregnancy than for John's? My 2nd trimester headaches have started. Any advice for those? I had daily headaches starting in the 2nd trimester with Carli...

    Take care!

  2. Mariah: Yes, I've tried everything. My vomiting was severe and multiple times daily till the bitter end with John. I've been on drugs this pregnancy, which was helping tremendously, but my problem now is that I struggle with the regimine of pills. Brushing my teeth is almost a guaranteed way to throw up. :)

Re: headaches, I have no advice. Are you hydrated enough? My midwife asks about headaches, so I think they are not a good thing. You might want to mention them to your caregiver.

  3. So sorry you are feeling so yucky Katherine! :( That really is no fun. I remember my nausea being quite debilitating at times. And to this day, nearly 20 months post-delivery, I still have a sensitive gag-reflex (that I didn't have before).

RE: Mariah's headaches...I had them really bad too, so my doc frequently checked me for HBP, which could be a sign of pre-enclampsia. Early on, my BP was high, but it mellowed out and that was okay. As for the headaches, I would just drink a lot of water and occasionally take a Tylenol (I didn't like to take more than what was needed, and I could usually get away with just one). Peppermint oil applied to the the temple helped too.
