Bibliophile Boys

My heart is warmed by how much my kids love books. Tonight Thomas (7) left Family Movie Night early because he was distressed that he might not have enough reading time before bed.

This overflowing box of books is in our master bedroom. Each evening, the three youngest boys read in here with me, so they’re forever hauling new books from our home library into our bedroom and leaving them here, there, and everywhere. This is the one neatened pile and does not reflect two other piles of kid books I found in here tonight. Every couple of weeks, I take all the children’s books and file them away properly in our library. (I am like those cranky librarians with the signs forbidding patrons from reshelving books themselves because they will simply do it wrong.)

The bedside tables of the oldest children also overflow with books—although books more classic and many inches thicker!

My bedside table is always too small for my books so I solved that problem by placing a basket on the floor by my bed and now that is overflowing, too.

What are you reading these days?

Today I finished “Glow Kids”—dare you to read it!

I’m reading “Heidi” because I’m teaching it to a Literature class and I’m reading “Witness” by Whittaker Chambers because it is fascinating.

I’m also reading through a stack of medical journal articles trying to solve the latest and greatest mysteries of Thomas.

Not enough hours in the day, I tell ya!
