Spoiler: Our puppy Nicky is fine!
Last night, he ate about 11 chocolate chip cookies, which sure seems like a lot for a 17-pound dog. I can't even blame a family member for carelessness because the cookies were in the snapped-shut plastic container from the bakery and the package was on the table, not near the edge. The rascally dog jumped up and ate the entire contents in a flash.

We found this nifty website late at night:
1. We estimated how many chocolate chips were in each small cookie (6).
2. We looked up how many chocolate chips are in one ounce of chocolate, to estimate that Nicky ate 1.5 oz.
3. We used the website calculator, which told us how much caffeine and theobromine Nicky had consumed and reassured us that he would probably be fine . . . which he was! Whew!
