Thomas the Baby 'Roo

Thomas was by far my longest-gestating baby and I think that is causing him to be quite an alert baby. He's already spending minutes when he's bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

I don't know how to sleep train infants or teach them to tolerate being out of Mama's arms, I'm the first to admit it--but I do know how to get them happily accustomed to being a baby kangaroo on my person for about the next year! I know it's not for everybody, but it works for our family.

Reality looks like this: About 8 hours' sleep over four days

I remember it took me six weeks of trying to get my first newborn to tolerate a Maya wrap and, ultimately, I had to go in-person to a sling-expert of a friend.

Here we are, on Day 2, after Joseph had been nursing almost nonstop since birth, when I put him in the sling and got my hands free again. Yippee!

It's really helpful to remember the T.I.C.K.S. Rules of Safe Babywearing. (And, for Mama's comfort, spread the strap evenly across the shoulder and back for even weight distribution and keep baby's bottom above Mama's belly button.)
