Easy DIY Nightgown

Two pumpkin princesses

This week, I adapted two tee-shirts to make nightgowns for the girls based on an Easy DIY Nightgown tutorial (click here). I wouldn't likely have chosen orange as a color, but we had received a bunch of boy's hand-me-downs, including two orange tee-shirts. So, orange it was!

I thought it would be fine to use these tee-shirts that were children's medium or large, but it turns out that one really would need to use an adult's tee-shirt to make the gathered princess collar, as shown in the tutorial.

Cute, free, and took about half an hour of my time for each one!

  2. I've done this before as well (turn surplus adult tees into nightgowns.) Did you use elastic thread on the waistbands?

  3. Elaine: Yes, I did ruching, in which the bobbin thread is elastic, while the spool thread is regular.
