The Feast of the Birthday of Our Lady 2013

The feast celebrating the birthday of Our Lady is always a lovely one to celebrate! Sweet, easy, and fun.

Three children dressed in Our Lady's blue . . . and squinting in the sunlight.
I forgot about Joseph on my back: he was in a sweet blue check as well.

A lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, mac & cheese, green salad, and fruit salad with friends

It wouldn't be a proper birthday without cake, right?

In the evening, we attended the performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream as put on by Charlotte homeschooling children and performed on Our Lady's birthday in dedication to her. They'd been working on it all summer. Their enthusiasm was delightful! I was charmed by all the families in attendance: so many babies in the audience! It is a real commitment to be involved in this undertaking all summer, so I imagine we might wait to participate until we have two children old enough (so maybe two more years when Mary is 6 and John 8?).

  1. It would have went without fanfare if I were two months postpartum also! Or, the most attention it would have had was a store-bought cake. Don't you worry!
