Acting Out Our Latin

This year I started John in Prima Latina, which is a one-year introductory Latin curriculum intended for second, third, or fourth grade (before one moves on to the more rigorous Latina Christiana, then First Form and so forth). I'm still not sure if we'll continue with it this year or that, if we do, I'll repeat this one-year curriculum next year before moving on to Latina Christiana. John is a tad on the young side.

This week (and probably next) we're doing the review section of the first five weeks of lessons. The standard review is a lot of paperwork and writing. John was struggling to be engaged until I decided to scrap the paperwork and ask him to act out for me the verbs I threw at him.

Let the enthusiasm start bubbling forth!

Specto: I see

Pugno: I fight (that is John punching wildly)

Oro: I pray

Now I'm going to use this tactic during our regular lessons when he is learning the verbs! I can't believe it took me five weeks to think of this.
