Chris and John were able to go on a father-son camping trip with other families (all homeschooling, I think) from our diocese. They had a fabulous time and John wasn't nervous like he was three years ago when he was a bit young to be camping.
John told me cheerfully that one of the fathers taught the boys the phrase, "We don't need no stinkin' ____!" and it was used throughout the weekend. One of their themes, I'm told, was, "We don't need no stinkin' soap and water!"
The boys arrived home Sunday morning where John washed off many layers of dirt before we zipped off to Mass. He was so tired from all his run-around fun that, despite having slept on the hour-long car ride home that morning, he also slept through Mass, then went to bed for the night early, fell asleep in all of ten minutes, and is still sleeping twelve hours later!
Chris tells me that other fathers took some pictures, so I'll add them to this post if they are emailed to us!
The so-called "J Team" because each of their boys' names began with 'J' |
That looks like so much fun!!! I wish I was the camping type as I think Max would love it! Alas, I am NOT, and Max will have to wait for Mike!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing dad-son time! (And especially anything that wears them out like that, lol!)
ReplyDeleteClaire: You are relieved of the duty anyway because it's a father-son camping weekend only. But maybe next year, is there another family member who could take Max, like a grandfather or uncle? That would be neat. The boys have so much fun, plus they do things like pray rosary around the campfire, or roast marshmallows but only get one marshmallow per Catholic trivia question answered!
