A First Sentence

A milestone! One of my children spontaneously wrote her first sentence, and it happened to be Mary, who turns four next week. I am accustomed to finding her cryptic missives all over the house, so when she brought me this one, I didn't realize at first that she'd written a sentence. She kept smiling like a cat who caught a canary and saying, "Look at it!"

Mary wrote: "ENTHENET  THEBOLGOTSTUK," which means, "The ball got stuck in the net."

For a bibliophile like myself, this little milestone had me giggling with joy!

  1. That is amazing! Was Mary a very precocious child verbally? She sounds like my Rosalie....

  2. Christine: Yes, that is true of Mary as well. She was speaking in full sentences at 18 months and off like a rocket. Now if only I could form her conscience to not be such a spitfire, shall we say!
