Mary's Missives

Mary likes to practice her letters. Sometimes she wants to spell out words, but often she wants simply to practice letters.

I find these notes all over the house, sometimes on big sheets of paper, sometimes on tiny cards, usually every day. These cryptic and quirky "missives" always make Chris and me laugh!

  2. So cute!!! Emma used to do that at Mary's age, and now she writes us (and even the baby) fun notes all the time.

  3. She has seriously good handwriting for her age. Truly. And I think I see a Latin word in there- "notum", of course spelled the ancient way, "notvm".

  4. Yes, her handwriting is very good. Maybe it's a boy-girl thing, I don't know, but John wasn't as interested in letters and then had to be taught more what they were. Mary is obsessed with letters, asks me once what a letter looks like, and then she has it.

Except for 'b' and 'd',' which they both switch constantly! :D

  6. 'b' and 'd' are tough ones. Emma still gets those mixed up from time to time, especially when tired. But it's apparently common to do that up until about the 2nd grade level.

  7. She seems so determined! I especially notice how she filled in the whole index card and made her letters match the size of the lines - even the bigger one at the bottom.
    Impressive work!
