Nine Weeks and Hot Weather

Life has been mostly quiet around here. The meds reduce my bad feelings to a "background noise" with seemingly random stretches of an hour or several hours each day when I'm on the couch. It makes planning hard, whether it's something so huge as planning a small outing or something as mundane as planning to cook a simple dinner. I chug ahead. This week: I grow cartilage and bones!

An end-of-month fabric sale lured me out of the house with all three kids in tow (Chris being commited elsewhere). I bought some ends of bolts to get the highest percentage off, so have three types of fabric to make matching dresses for the girls, a new dress pattern to try, and fabric to make John some pajama pants so he doesn't feel left out. Coincidentally or not, I'll never know, I dragged myself home like an unrecognizable something and had to curl up in bed the rest of the day, feeling my worst day yet of pregnancy. When I finally felt improved enough, I was able to eat white rice for dinner (in bed). I was so grateful Chris was then home and could take all three kids! Thank you, honey!

We recently had a super hot stretch for a few days, so Daddy brought out the kiddie pool.

Fun was had by all until Margaret slipped on the wet deck, hit the bridge of her nose on the step of the deck, and got her first shiner.

This was an enjoyable blog post exemplifying what I've noticed in moms of many and now in myself about having to employ the children to learn to do chores.

This blog post is a very nice reminder for Catholic mothers of the youngest babies and toddlers to bring the littlest ones to Jesus.

  1. I think it's great you got out for something "fun" such as shopping for a loved hobby vs. something mundane. :)

And I love that John wore his life vest in the pool! So cute!

  2. I can so relate to this right now. Simple, quick trips to Trader Joe's can wipe me out for the rest of the day. I'm just SO thankful that Jason works from home most days, because he's usually done working fairly early in the evening and is able to take over "kid duty" after dinner so I can go to bed early! And Emma has been (for the most part) extra help too.
