This week, Margaret has begun shrieking loudly, rapidly, and persistently to inform us that she wants XYZ and that XYZ is not happening soon enough. Either she is informing us or she is hoping that by bursting our eardrums, we will collapse from the pain and give in.
Mary, ever one to improvise, adapt, and overcome, got her noise-reducing earphones out of the garage and is now wearing them around the house. Frankly, the rest of us wish we had earphones too.
(I note also that, now that Margaret is a ripe old 12 months, she is throwing very toddler-like tantrums. When denied something in what she considers cruel and unusual restriction--such as being removed to the cry room today instead of being allowed to run around the church squealing with joy at a baptism--she begins by stamping one foot on the ground repeatedly while staring me in the eye and screaming. Then when I say 'no' again, she glances around to make sure she isn't going to hit anything and hurt herself, then she flings herself to the ground and begins kicking her feet and hitting her hands. It is a remarkable thing to watch in a baby so young! And here I thought this girl was pretty laid back in temperament. We shall see if she has a tiny bit of spitfire in her yet!)
I LOVE the bright pink earphones! Mary's expression just says it all, lol.
ReplyDeleteMy third started throwing stamp-my-foot-and-fling-myself-down tantrums right before he turned one. (Frankly, it's pretty adorable, even thought it never gets him what he wants.) I think it's a child #3 thing! He's my most active and precocious child, though more easygoing than son #2, but not as laid back as son #1.
Mary. Love.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, Margaret! That's pretty early for tantrums!! Maybe it comes with sooner walking? :)
