This week we captured ants for a national scientific study being done called The School of Ants.
The bait: Pecan Sandies!
Unfortunately, the squirrels ate the cookies off of two of our bait stations, inspiring John to make a scarecrow out of a branch he found on the ground and some scrap fabric of mine.
Mary is seen here in her nightgown because she came down with yet another illness of high fever and coughing: the fourth illness to sweep through our family in six weeks. Not that I am keeping count.
Certainly not.
Anyway, she was just sitting quietly watching John and I figured the 75-degree weather and fresh air would do her good, if anything, and I couldn't see any harm in it.
And the above photo just caught a moment that gave me a chuckle. Grandmom gave Mary a little tiny doll, sort of like a miniature Barbie. What do our kids do with it? They made her kneel and pray because she was a Praying Dolly!
I love Mary's nightgown!
