My babies are home safe! They were greeted with many hugs and kisses and a big dinner waiting for them. And I feel so refreshed!
We've discovered over the last year that Mary now gets carsick! It's no fun at all. Above is the latest contraption Daddy invented to try to contain the mess (but on the drive home she actually stayed well for once, so we didn't get to try it).
Oh no! I get carsick too and wish they'd had better remedies when I was a kid. Mountainous or curvy rides were (and still are) torturous and just looking at someone else reading in the car flips my stomach even now. It's no fun to miss everything because you're conked out from Dramamine. They do make a lighter dose of Dramamine which is supposed to make one less sleepy, but I have no idea how it would work on a child of Mary's age and size.
ReplyDeleteSince then, I've used (with some amount of success) Sea Bands, peppermint gum, and some kind of homeopathic oil stuff that you dab behind the ears. I can't find it right now, but I think it's called Motion Eze (maybe?), and I also think I found it at Wal-Mart. I never thought to try the health food store, but they probably have something great and non-drowsy for kids and adults.
My only other suggestion would be to see if she can sit in a more frontal/middle row seat, as opposed to the very rear of the vehicle (think swaying and closed in) and to make sure she has a good, clear line of sight all around her as well as a window that can open for fresh air. Poor Mary. Chris' bag idea is genius! I pray y'all can find something that works well for her.
That picture is funny :) And I am sorry to hear Enid that you are still affected!
ReplyDeleteFound the teensy bottle of stuff; it's called MotionEaze. I smell lavender oil as the primary ingredient but can't tell what else is in it. Their website is www.motioneaze.com At least I think it is because I need a magnifying glass to read it on the miniscule label. Thanks, Elaine.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I was watching the Duggars on their trip to Europe and the Holy Land, and they took something when they got on the boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. I can't remember what it was, but I recognized the name immediately, and it seemed to help as they (more than 1/2 of their kids) suffer mightily from motion sickness. Best of luck!
Enid: I wonder if MotionEaze will help me at all with pregnancy nausea next time around. I'll try just about anything.
