Picking Strawberries

My Aunt Stella is visiting from California, so she was able to join us for a parish homeschoolers' field trip to pick strawberries. For our tickets, we were able to listen to a presentation about strawberries, pick strawberries in the field, go on a wagon ride, receive a neat coloring book, and eat homemade strawberry ice cream.

While we were picking berries, the skies darkened.

While on our wagon ride, the skies opened up and rain began falling. I had sweaters for the kids in my backpack but decided to keep the sweaters dry, with the thought that if the kids got soaked, I'd have dry clothes to put on them.

I have no photos after this point because by the time the wagon got us back to the parking lot, the rain was pouring down. Everyone ran for their respective vehicles to take shelter. Then the nice farm manager ran through the drenching rain, delivering cups of fabulous strawberry ice cream to everyone. The families sat in their vehicles (many of them 15-passenger vans) eating ice cream and then drove home. We laughed about it and thought that the rain added some pretty good adventure to our field trip.
