South Mountain After the Rain

The boys went on a daddy-and-son hike to South Mountain today.

Chris was holding John's hand the whole time he sat on this ledge, and the ledge was over land, not water, but John was quite nervous anyway!

NERVOUS!

  1. He's so handsome! Is his hair red? It looks so auburn in these photos.

You must be close to the end now of pregnancy now! You are in our family prayers every night. I am looking forward to seeing news of your newest arrival!

  2. Jessica: Yes, John has quite auburn hair. He was born with it, which was a surprise! We think it comes from Chris' side, which has Irish aways back. You can see the red strongly in the sunlight, not so much indoors.

Thank you for your prayers! I really appreciate it. I'm 36+6, so who knows if I'm mere days away from labor or 3-5 weeks!

  3. You find the coolest places to explore. After 11 years I really need to discover our place better. Beautiful pictures!

  4. Kathy: South Mountain is neat! It's only one hour's drive from Charlotte (South Charlotte anyway), it's free, and it offers a good hike, combining really easy walking and some difficult hiking at the end (which a person could skip). It's a very pretty rural drive to get there and there is a fun General Store on the route where we stop to buy old fashioned candies and such.

  5. What a fun outing. Looks a lot like some of our Sierra foothills hiking trails here.
