This Is My Life

This is a photo of my kitchen floor. I title it "This Is My Life."

Having Chris out of town on business yet again (and, yes, I'm so grateful for his steady job) has a way of making me kind of cynical and dropping me to survival mode. Last night, before Chris had arrived home finally, my kitchen floor looked like the above, and this was after just one meal: very representative of what my floors look like after most meals. I got out the broom and dust bin, cleaned the floor, used a wet wash cloth for a quick "spot mop" of some sticky spots, put my tools away, and washed my hands. And within five minutes, a certain 23-month-old girl had found an unsecured source of more sunflower seeds and spilled another cup full of them on the floor.

I just have to laugh. I hope some of my fellow housewives are laughing too.

And I know the awful floors aren't my life. My sweet babies are more representative of my life. But, still, you know the feeling . . .

  1. LOL!! I've gotten to the point where when my kids make such messes, I let our dogs take care of it for me! BIG time saver. ;)

  2. And this is why I long to have an eat-in kitchen with tile, linoleum, wood, laminate, or ANYTHING other than beige carpet someday! Because this is my life, too. With beige carpet. Ugh.

  3. I am laughing! I actually thought of posting the same picture (of my floor) today and titling it something similar! I feel like I am ALWAYS SWEEPING!

  4. Oh I can completely relate!!! Homemade muffins are a recipe for disaster. If we had the room to store one of those handvacs or stick broom vacs, I would get one and let the kids fight over who gets to clean up after each meal. But we don't have the room. :(
