First Football Game

The other evening we were driving home and quickly pulled into a school parking lot because we saw the football team finishing up its practice. Five minutes of watching and John was hooked and has been expressing interest in football since.

Tonight, Chris took John to a high-school football game at Charlotte Catholic (around the corner from us) against Charlotte Country Day. We were on our way to dinner at a restaurant as a family and I thought Chris was being a bit over cautious to have us take two cars and drop off his at the high-school so he'd get a good parking spot. We dropped off the car two hours early, and almost all the spots were already gone! Tail gate parties were going strong and I saw at least three local radio stations broadcasting.

When I dropped off the boys right before the game began, it was a zoo.

John got a cold bottled water and warm buttered popcorn, he cheered for his team, and he showed me how the boys would throw the ball "so high" and then go "crash!" into each other and--"uuuuhhhh!"---fall on the ground. I think he'll be talking about this for days.

  2. That is so cool! Liam likes football too. I remember when he was 2 yrs old Matt would be watching football and Liam would crouch down when the players were crouching and then he would start running around when they started the play. It was cute :)
