I drove to Bruegger's Bagels today to stock up on yogurt cream cheese only to learn that it was a one-time seasonal product that may or may not ever be returned! (See here and here to remember why this is so important to my boy John.) I guess I'll go back to buying the chewable calcium supplements because, without the yogurt cream cheese, John doesn't get anywhere near enough. I'm so disappointed about this!
And speaking of food . . . in the meanwhile my Adventurous Eater Mary loved my homemade balsamic vinaigrette tonight. I gave her a few pieces of lettuce with dressing (she loves salad) and she kept sucking off the dressing, then asked me to pour balsamic vinaigrette on her plate. She proceeded to dredge various foods through it and eat them, having me pour the dressing anew three times. Every time she'd take a bite, she'd smile and remark, "Spicy!"
so he wouldn't touch your homemade version?
ReplyDeleteSarah: Right, he ate it once and then refused it all times in the future.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried draining yogurt (I used to do that with whole-milk regular type, lining a colander with cheesecloth [though they do sell kits...or used to])?
ReplyDeleteDid you do the thing where you strain a thing of yogurt overnight in the refrigerator? Orrrr... what you you mix half homemade/half storebought?
ReplyDeleteYes, I made homemade yogurt cream cheese by straining yogurt. John ate it once, hesitantly, and then refused ever after. I'm considering doing it again so he doesn't see, then putting the product in an empty Bruegger's Bagels cream cheese container.
