For this one, the foundation cloth was actually an old drapery from IKEA that was handed down to me to use for sewing. The drapery is a burnt orange color, so I highlighted it with yellow and green fabrics.
I created a green snail pillow, stuffed with a plastic grocery bag to make an interesting crinkly sound. It tucks into a yellow pocket, with buttons sewn on for a toddler to pick at (you know how they like to pick).
I had a clear plastic envelope, the perfect size for holding a holy card (or whatever), so I sewed that on.
Ooh I like that one a lot! How creative. Did you put the snaps on the strip yourself or were you able to buy a strip premade?
ReplyDeletemake sure you keep these hidden so they will be new and exciting on the airplane trip :)
ReplyDeleteI want to play with this one! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have done fabulous work: creativity + sewing skill. Bravo! The plastic sleeve will be good for slipping in a photograph if you're going to visit someone the child doesn't know well yet.
I REALLY think you should market these to parents flying with toddlers!!!!! Seriously! Just for fun and for kicks!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love these airplane trays! What great work you have done! ...I wonder if I could manage to make one before we fly to CT in August...hmmm...
ReplyDeleteYou are all so kind, thank you. I wouldn't want to start any kind of Etsy business, though. I couldn't handle the pressure!
