Mary on the Swing

We visited the playground in our neighborhood this morning. There are only two swings, one for big kids and one for little kids, but even the little kid one isn't enclosed like it should be for a baby. But Mary at 16 months doesn't care and she loves to swing--much higher than her Mama would let her in an unenclosed swing! In fact, one time she was at the playground with Daddy and she let go of the chains to point to an airplane overhead, at which point she flew out of the swing, did a full flip in the air, and landed on her tummy on the ground. She let out one little fuss, stood up, brushed herself off, and wanted to swing some more. That's our Mary!

My mother-in-law commented to me today that she feels old because one of her sons is experiencing his nineteenth wedding anniversary. And just this morning I had been feeling amazed and old that my first "baby" is now old enough to push my second "baby" on the swing-that-isn't-even-for-babies.

  1. That sound she makes each time he pushes her is priceless! Someone should make a recording of baby chortles and gleeful sounds. I can't think of a more joyful noise!

  2. My kids love watching the videos. My son asks every time if it's himself and his sister. They're about the same age, but don't look very much like your children. He's always asking to watch the videos of the little boy and his sister!! Very cute!!
