Like usual, I'd woken earlier than everyone this morning, so was downstairs already when John (who had transferred into Mama & Daddy's bed in the night) woke up with Daddy. Chris heard in the pitch dark a waking-up moan from John, then three seconds later, John said with authority, "Some birds are owls." Pause. "Some birds are pelicans."
So true.
And then John ran downstairs to find me and, after doing a visit to the potty, he burst out of the bathroom, so excited with information that he hadn't remembered to put back on his pajama pants. He exclaimed to me, "All the dinosaurs are died!"
I dampened the moment by correcting, "All the dinosaurs are dead."
John: "No, all the dinosaurs are died."
Mama: "All the dinosaurs died, so now all the dinosaurs are dead." John eyed me with suspicion, and then we had a discussion about what "extinct" means.
John is full of facts these days and he's more than happy, in a new three-year-old way, to approach strangers in public to share his wealth of information.
Katherine,
ReplyDeleteThere is a really cute and informative cartoon about dinosaurs on PBS called "Dinosaur Train." My 4 year old loves it. He can practically say all of their names now and is always telling me the fun facts he has learned. If you want to preview it first, especially given that you do not prefer to have the tv on any more than necessary, you can do so at pbskids.org. *truly this was not meant to be a PSA* LOL
Ashley: John really likes that show!
