John Reads to His Sister

How I wish I had the video camera! Just now I was reading an Ignatian retreat book on the couch (and lest you think I actually get to sit around and read, it was a training exercise to try to get John to let me read in peace for even five minutes and, believe me, it went badly). John pulled out his own book and convinced Mary to sit next to him, two little bottoms squished into the little children's recliner chair. He said, "Let me read to you!"

He proceeded to "read" her "I Like to Help My Mommy" (Little Golden Books), which also revealed to me for the first time that John has a whole book memorized.

It was so precious, but I knew if I so much as glanced at the boy, he would stop "reading" and get shy on me! No photos, just a sweet vignette.

  1. Oh, that is so sweet!!! I hear ya on the reading time. The only time I get to read for pleasure is when Theo is fast asleep...and by then, I'm ready to be fast asleep too!

  2. Oh, I can just imagine it! I love sibling moments. LOL, at John having the book memorized. I have tried and tried to get DS1 on camera reciting The Owl and the Pussycat and it just turns into the softest whispers. ;-)
