In the past two days, John has figured out how to open the latches on all our cupboards and drawers.
We do not know what to do.
It is only recently that I've begun trusting John to be playing on a different floor than me. (For those who think that's overly cautious, keep in mind that our home's traditional layout means I can't hear John if he's on one floor and I'm on another.) But now I'm utterly anxious that if he's out of my sight, he'll be getting into the steak knives, the dishwasher detergent, or the bug poison.
I know some mom-friends who are going to say to me, "Welcome to my world."
Hee hee...yep, welcome to my world indeed! :) Fortunately, Emma's at the age now that I can tell her not to play with something because it can hurt her, and she's good about following such instructions.
ReplyDeleteBack when we reached that stage, we found a magic lock that used a powerful magnet to open it. Of course, the magnet has to be kept in a secure place, but you that way you can lock just a few cabinets/drawers that have dangerous stuff in them.

He he he...I'm sorry, but welcome to my world. Theo figured out those darn latches within days of us putting them on. Nothing is sacred... ;-)
ReplyDelete(In case you're curious, we ended up putting knives in a high cupboard where even WE have to stretch to reach them. It's kind of silly to have cutlery in a cupboard instead of a drawer, but it works.)
:) I'm sure you will figure it out gracefully as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Sara- get the magnet locks. John is your first child and so you will definitely get your money's worth.
ReplyDeleteOh no!
