Mary Speaks

Mary is slowly picking up words and signs. At 13-1/2 months old, she says:

Mama
Dada
the sign DADDY
a word for kitty that sounds like tss-tss
the sign for KITTY
a word for diaper that sounds like dop-dop
the sign for DIAPER
the sign MORE
the sign EAT
the sign WATER
the sign WANT
the sign DOWN
the word jump
the sign for BRUSHING TEETH
the sign for BRUSHING HAIR

Just a couple of days ago, Mary learned to wave "hello" (which is, technically speaking, a sign also), so now she is waving HELLO to everybody who passes us by at a restaurant or at Mass. Sweet Girl is charming everyone with her waving and proving to be quite a distraction!

I remember that John's language acquisition took off around 15 months. By 18 months old, he possessed something like 30 signs and 50 words and then I stopped counting. Of course, all children vary in this arena, so I'm excited to see what Mary has in store for us! I love this stage.
