For the last few weeks, I have listened to John informing me and I've often thought of that little boy from Jerry Maguire.
"A human head weighs eight pounds . . ."
John is becoming a font of knowledge as he figures out the ways of the world--whether the rules are about behavior or nature--just how things work. At any given moment he might be telling me what we should do if there are dinosaurs outside our window, what bears eat, how trains work, the way to eat a waffle, the changes that come with the fall season, the various qualities of cats' fur, the meanings of traffic light colors, an the list goes on nearly endlessly.
This characteristic of his age is very endearing--and a reminder to me that we need to fill his absorbing brain with good material and not junk!
I can't wait to get to that stage with Theo--it sounds like so much fun! Right now we're in an endearing stage, too--the "what's that?" stage, where he questions me about everything in his field of vision: "Wha' dat? Wha' dat?" I love it!
ReplyDeleteunfortunately, there is a lot of junk that the youngsters absorb from the older kiddos! Ugh!! (and, in the scheme of things it's not bad stuff - in the world's eyes - but it's not virtuous substance, if ya know what i mean! LOL]
